Getlink
The shortest route to a low-carbon future
Le projet
Context
A pioneer in low-carbon transport between France and the UK, the Getlink Group has enabled 8 million passengers and 1.4 million lorries to cross the English Channel in 2022 with up to 73 times lower CO2 emissions than by ferry. In 2022, Getlink inaugurated ElecLink, the first extra-high-voltage interconnector to be installed in an underwater tunnel. With a capacity of 1 gigawatt, the cable can supply electricitý to a metropolis like Lyon, with a population of 1.6 million.
Idea
Getlink and W orchestrate a campaign that highlights the Group's capacity for innovation in the service of tomorrow's transport. With this new campaign, the Getlink Group presents an ambitious strategy built around two pillars: low-carbon and high simplicity...
Low-carbon
With a business that controls its environmental impact, Getlink is at the forefront of players accelerating the decarbonization of transport. In 2023, the Group is breaking new ground by publishing a new indicator for the first time: the low-carbon margin, a measure of the resilience of its business model to the progressive pricing of greenhouse gas emissions.
High simplicity
Getlink is the driving force behind the smart border that simplifies movement between the UK and Europe. As controlling border crossing times has become a major issue since the Brexit, Getlink has developed digital solutions to facilitate customs formalities for carriers and supply chain players. In 2021 Getlink launched, via its Europorte brand, FLEX EXPRESS, a high-frequency rail freight link between France, Germany and Benelux to accelerate modal shift and double the share of rail freight by 2030.
